Of the 40 picture books I’ve had published thus far, HOT DOG! is my 11th illustrated nonfiction picture book venture. Published in May 2026 by ODD DOT books (an imprint of MacMillan Children’s Publishing Group). It’s wonderfully written by Christine Van Zandt, the story spanning the history of the sausage through time from the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, and Chinese, right up to today. And explaining how in America the common sausage on a bun evolved and eventually became named the HOT DOG, and loved around the world.
